I feel this is characteristic of professional services as a whole, be it consulting, or IB etc. they dont always get the client to make the best decision, but help the client feel better in making a decision the latter already made up their mind about.

which can lead to problematic results.

True. I haven't found a solution around this. It's all based on earning the client's trust--because the value of the service is too hard for the client to understand. So anyone who earns the client's trust (even if own false pretenses) is going to be the best at sales.
